Radiant Glow Bar
Brightening Goat Milk Face Bar
2 oz $12 · 1 oz sample $7
The Story
The face bar that started it all. We wanted a wash that could keep up with tired, dull, long-day skin without stripping it raw, so we built one on a goat-milk base and laced it with turmeric, kojic acid, and a quartet of essential oils. The color is the turmeric, the glow is the kojic, and the creamy lather is the goat milk doing what goat milk does. It is the gentle, brightening companion to the Charcoal Detox Bar, the two of them a pair: one to clear the day out, one to bring the light back in.
The Ritual
Slow water, warm not hot. Work the bar between wet hands into a soft lather, press it over face and throat, and rinse with cool water to close. Morning and night, or whenever the skin asks for a reset. Follow with your usual moisturizer and sunscreen, kojic acid or not.
Meet the Ingredients — Story, History & Science
Goat Milk (Caprae Lac)
The history: The milk-bath is older than recorded history, and goat milk has been the soapmaker's milk for centuries, richer and creamier than cow.
Traditional use: The farmstead face wash, churned into soap wherever goats were kept.
The science: Its milk fats and lactic acid give the bar a soft, conditioning lather that leaves skin feeling supple, not squeaky.
Turmeric (Curcuma Longa)
The history: Turmeric has colored South Asian bridal skin rituals for thousands of years, the golden spice of ceremony and kitchen alike.
Traditional use: The wedding-week glow herb, ground into paste for the bride before the ceremony.
The science: Its curcumin gives the bar its warm gold color and is the traditional brightening herb of Ayurvedic skin care.
Kojic Acid (Kojic Acid)
The history: Kojic acid was discovered in the sake breweries of Japan, a byproduct of the koji rice fermentation that also makes miso and soy sauce.
Traditional use: The modern brightening ingredient, born from an ancient ferment.
The science: Used at 1%, it is a cosmetic brightener for a more even, luminous-looking complexion; it can be sensitizing, so patch test first.
Essential Oil Blend (Lemon, Lavender, Frankincense & Ylang Ylang)
The history: Lemon brightens, lavender calms, frankincense is the temple resin of the ancient incense trade, and ylang ylang, the 'flower of flowers,' perfumed the hair of South Sea queens.
Traditional use: The four-corner scent of a face bar meant to feel like a small ritual.
The science: Together they give the bar its clean, floral-resin aroma at a skin-friendly 1%.
How to Use
Lather between wet hands, smooth over damp skin, rinse. Keep the bar dry between uses on a draining dish.
