Heaven's Plant Medicine

The Unbothered Bar

Deodorizing Tallow Body Bar

$10 per bar

The Story

You have got better things to do than wonder if you are fresh. The Unbothered Bar takes the two things our grandmothers swore by, apple cider vinegar and Greek yogurt, and whips them into a creamy-lathering 75% tallow bar with deodorizing cedarwood and rosemary. Wash, rinse, keep it moving. It is the everyday body bar for the everyday question of how the day is sitting on you, answered in one wash.

The Ritual

Morning shower, post-workout rinse, the end of a long day. Lather, wash, rinse, done. No fuss, no waiting, no second-guessing. The bar does its work while you get on with yours.

Meet the Ingredients — Story, History & Science

Apple Cider Vinegar (Pyrus Malus)

The history: Vinegar has been the household staple since the apple was first pressed, and apple cider vinegar is the folk tonic of the American kitchen.

Traditional use: The grandmother's rinse, stirred into soap for the fresh feeling it leaves behind.

The science: In the bar it is a process additive that gives a warm tan color and a clean-rinsing wash; the copy promises only a fresh feeling, never a treatment.

Greek Yogurt (Bovine Milk, Cultured)

The history: Yogurt is older than writing, the cultured milk of the mountains and the steppe, kept cool in clay for millennia.

Traditional use: The kitchen remedy of the old household, eaten and applied alike.

The science: Its lactic culture adds a soft, skin-kind quality to the lather and a creamy feel on the skin.

Cocoa Powder (Theobroma Cacao)

The history: Cacao is the 'food of the gods' of Mesoamerica, the brown gold of the Aztec court, ground into a drink of ceremony and power.

Traditional use: The color and scent of the chocolate kitchen, stirred into the bar.

The science: It gives the soap its warm brown shade, fully stable through cure, with no fading.

Cedarwood (Juniperus Virginiana)

The history: Cedar is the wood of the chest and the temple, the scent of the forest kept indoors to ward off moths and must.

Traditional use: The deodorizing wood of the old household, built into chests and burned as incense.

The science: A natural fixative, it holds the brighter oils through cure and gives the bar its warm, woody base note.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis)

The history: Rosemary is the herb of remembrance, 'rosemary for remembrance' in Shakespeare's Ophelia, the kitchen herb of the Mediterranean coast.

Traditional use: The deodorizing kitchen herb, burned and brewed for its clean, resinous scent.

The science: Its 1,8-cineole gives a bright, herbal top note that pairs with the cedarwood as the classic deodorizing duo.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon Schoenanthus)

The history: Lemongrass is the bright citrus-herb of Southeast Asian kitchens and temple courtyards.

Traditional use: The kitchen-garden herb, brewed as tea and burned as scent.

The science: Its citral lifts the blend with a clean, lemony top note.
